Our Installers:  HomeTowne's installation professionals are factory trained and experienced in any number of replacement applications for windows, doors, bays, bows and patio doors. That is why we confidently warranty the installation of our products for one full year. We know that we are working in your home and we take that very seriously. Our installers are punctual, polite and will keep dust and debris to a minimum. We will respect your home and replace the windows in the order that works best for you. We place drop cloths and runners in traffic areas and cover nearby furniture. At the end of each day we will vacuum our way out the door and all of the tools will be removed-even in a multi day installation. Your yard will be kept clean throughout the project, and all debris will be hauled away daily. At the end of your installation, you will be given an installation questionnaire which will ask you for feed back on your installation experience. Your complete satisfaction is very important to us because "how" we install your windows is just as important as "what" we install.

Pocket Replacement:  Pocket Replacement is probably the most popular replacement application. This method leaves the frame of the original window intact, while the sash and jamb liners are removed. The casing or "trim" is also left on the original unit. Here at HomeTowne, we prefer a replacement unit that has it's own frame as opposed to a sash replacement kit. In essence, we place a "window inside a window". This assures that the new unit can operate in its own frame and does not have to rely on the original frame which may be out of square.

Advantages of the Pocket Replacement:
Since we are not removing the original frame or casing, there is typically a lower cost involved with this application. Also, in an older home or one with intricate woodwork, this method preserves the beauty of the original woodwork.
Limitations: Because the original frame and trim are left intact, there are applications that are not suited to this method. If there is significant rot to the existing frame or the sill, or if the interior woodwork has been damaged by water or UV rays, we suggest a Full Frame Replacement (See Below). Likewise, a Pocket Replacement for a multi unit composite (say a three wide casement) might actually require more labor (and therefore cost) than replacing the entire unit as a Full Frame Replacement.

Full Frame Replacement: Full Frame Replacement, as its name implies, involves removing the entire unit down to the rough opening. The old frame and casing are removed along with the exterior trim. The new window is installed directly into the original opening and the interior wood work and the exterior trim are replaced as well. This allows us to repair damage to the opening and to re-insulate the entire rough opening. The replacement window is made specifically for that opening and will be virtually the same size as the original window. This will maximize the visible glass of the new unit and allow our installers to cover paint and wallpaper lines on virtually every job.

Advantages of the Full Frame Replacement: Because the old frame is removed, there is access to repair or replace framework that has been damaged or has rot. Also, if the woodwork is worn or weathered, this can be replaced with brand new trim. We offer prefinishing and paint or stain to match the existing woodwork. The goal is to make the opening look "new" but not necessarily "replaced". Multi unit composites are removed and installed as one unit and can save significant labor cost vs a Pocket Replacement application, even though technically more work has been done.
Limitations:There are applications such as intricate tile or crown moulding where a Pocket Replacement makes the most sense in order not to damage the existing trim.
